Dr. Nyangon Presents Research on Regulatory Innovation at INFORMS 2019

Dr. Nyangon presented a scholarly paper at the 2019 INFORMS Annual Meeting in Seattle, USA, examining how regulatory innovation is driving convergence in electric utility policies worldwide. Titled “Regulatory Innovation and the Convergence of Electric Utility Policies: New Business Models and Electricity Market Design,” the paper explores how disruptive trends are forcing utilities to rethink traditional models and transition toward “Utility 2.0.”

The research analyzes emerging concepts such as microgrid development, distributed solar automation, smart grid systems, innovative electricity market design, and the use of big data and analytics. Using a multidimensional framework, the study draws on case studies from the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Australia, including New York’s REV and Germany’s Energiewende, to assess flexibility and market design innovations shaping the future of electricity systems.
